Sesame Chicken and Lo Mein

Okay first, I need to learn to take pictures before I devour the dish. Second, I LOVE LOVE LOVE Chinese food but sometimes ordering just is not an option for my bank account. So I started cooking this recipe for Sesame Chicken and Lo Mein and my family went crazy. (They already are crazy but still… it’s good.)

What you will need!

Sesame Chicken

  • 3-4 chicken breasts
  • 1 1/2 cup of corn starch
  • 3 eggs beaten
  • 1/4 cup of oil
  • 1 cup of sugar
  • 4 tbsp of ketchup
  • 1/4 cup of white vinegar
  • 1/4 cup of apple cider vinegar

Lo Mein

  • 1 medium yellow onion
  • Small crown of broccoli
  • 2 medium shredded carrots
  • 2 packages of ramen noodles (just the noodle)
  • 1/4 cup of soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup of worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tbsp of ketchup
  • 1 tbsp of siracha sauce (can be to taste!)
  • 1 tbsp of sugar

Let’s get started!

Sesame Chicken

Preheat oven to 325 degrees

Cut the chicken into bite size pieces

In separate bowls place the cornstarch and eggs -> Dip the chicken in cornstarch then the eggs.

Heat oil in a large skillet on medium/high heat then cook the chicken.

Combine all of the ingredients in a bowl. When mixed thoroughly, pour mixture over the cooked chicken in a 9×13 greased pan.

Cook for 1 hour but stir the chicken every 15 minutes.

If you want, sprinkle sesame seeds on top of the finished chicken!

 

Lo Mein

Cook the ramen noodles

In a large skillet pa heat oil and cook the veggies

Combine the sauces, ketchup, and sugar in a small bowl.

Add the ramen to the veggies

Pour sauce mixture over the noodle mixture!
